Walk to School Day Fun at San Ramon
A 'walking train' of kids left from a house
Did you hear we have trains running through Novato again?
I'm not talking about the train that runs on the railroad down by Whole Foods. I'm talking about the a "walking train" of kids that was seen weaving through the San Marin neighborhood on the way to San Ramon Elementary School. It was all part of the school's annual Walk to School Day event.
The kids and some parents convened Friday morning at a house in the 100 block of San Andreas Drive left for school at 8:15 a.m. This year the fifth graders raised money by selling bagels, orange juice and coffee.
With the clearing weather, it turned out to be a perfect morning to go for a little walk on the way to class.

Haven't seen so many kids walking to San Ramon since - well ... maybe when my kids were there in the eightys! - when they all walked to school! Good job!!

I heard that quite a few schools have the Walk To School Day last week. Glad the weather cleared up for some.
I think it will also be great if we can get the school bus back - then even if the kids can't walk the whole way, they can at least walk to the bus stations and ride the bus to school.

Sylvia--you are right! Lynwood Elementary had their walk to school day last week. It was nice to see so many kids walk or roll to school in spite of the not so great weather.
