Nerf Wars All About Spongy Fun

Don't be alarmed if you see kids running around with toy guns.

What would be your first reaction if saw a bunch of teens running around a schoolyard with guns? Probably to dial 911, right?

But it would be different if you saw that guns were obviously brightly colored toys that shoot spongy bullets.

Novato Nerf Nation is a group of local teens who hold Nerf wars at local parks and schools. Chase Caligiuri and Davis Diercks serve as co-presidents of the club, which was started last year. They have a constitution and a rulebook.

Think of all the politically incorrect or violent games kids played in years gone by, starting with Cowboys & Indians, Red Rover, Dodgeball and Smear the Queer — named back when queer just meant weird.

Good clean fun, right?

Below, share memories of the games you played when you were a kid (but use PC terms, please).
