Frugal Family Planner for April 6-12

Sweets, music, shopping, art & information about your body — all free or at a discount.

A sumptuous treasure is tucked around the corner on your way to Bel Marin Keys. John and Jill's Cheesecakes at 4 Commercial Blvd. offers no less than 40 varieties of cheesecakes in eight sizes. Open to the public weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., this sister and brother business/baking team offers "seconds" at incredible discounts. You are invited to call ahead to see what they have available.

This tip comes from hostess with the mostess and long-time Novato resident Carolyn Mulford, who likes to buy the plain cheese cakes for dinner parties and do a little customizing — decorate with chocolate sauce, add fruit and whipped cream. For larger parties she buys two packages of bite-size cheese cakes in assorted flavors.

Yummm! Can anyone say "graduation party"?
