2 Caught on Tape Stealing Gas at Car Wash Pump

Lake County men seen on surveillance footage at Matt & Jeff's early Sunday morning.

Two Lake County men were arrested early Sunday morning at a car wash at near and suspected of using a diagnostic device to steal gas, police said.

An employee of called police just after midnight that suspicious activity was taking place near the fuel pumps, Novato police Sgt. Jim Tross said Monday. Police determined through video surveillance that gas was stolen from the business at 125 Vintage Way.

Michael Gil Truscott, 31, of Clearlake and David Wayne Rank, 32, of Nice were arrested on suspicion of theft by accessing or altering a computer device, a felony, and misdemeanor petty theft.

Both men were booked into Marin County Jail at 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
